In Germany, the new State Treaty on Gambling 2021, the Glücksspielstaatsvertrag (GlüStV 2021), will take effect as of 01. July 2021. The 2021 treaty legalizes online gambling, including online poker, virtual slots and online table games across all 16 federal states in Germany. The treaty’s objective is to create a uniform nationwide regulation for online gambling providers and push back the unregulated black market to protect players. The new regulation has a significant impact on players as well as for gambling providers.
